This Over-the-Range Microwave Ovens give to us some advantages, like this :
1. It only lasted 6 years total.
I purchased my microwave when I redid my kitchen in 2005. It went out completely in early 2012. It quit heating and made a burning smell. I called GE and they said it was $99.00 for a service call, but would likely be expensive to fix. Because it was so expensive for a "microwave" I haven't yet replaced it. Most models out there are only 30 inches and do not fit the space, but I am reluctant to spend another $850.00 to replace it so soon. It should have lasted longer. The little microwavwe I used to have still works and we are using that. It was $40.00.

2. A complete waste of money
When we purchased our house in 2005 we brought all new GE appliances for our kitchen. I have this microwave with a stainless steel look. Found out after the fact that none of the GE appliances we purchased were actually stainless steel they just looked like it. Which partly explains why we have had so much trouble with them. Poorly made. The same as a previous customer and it was burnt out by 2012. We haven't replace ours either because it cost to much money and we can't find one reasonably priced that is 36". We have the GE electric wall ovens as well that we purchased in 2005 and they also stopped working back in 2010 because we needed the ovens we did have to pay to get those fixed and the same holds true for the cooktop we have that stopped working as well and had to be fixed. I would strongly recommend not buying this microwave. It cost far to much money to only last about 5 years if you are lucky. As a matter of fact I would recommend not buying any GE appliance...
