As a person who considers himself a bit of a coffee connoisseur, I would like to shed some light on criticisms I found to be consistent amongst the less glowing reviews. I think some people who purchased this machine are a bit unfamiliar with the advantages versus traditional (glass carafe) brewers. They are mistaking some of the positives for negatives. I hope this helps current and potential buyers, as for the price (or even for more money) you'd be hard-pressed to find anything better. Allow me to explain...

STAINLESS STEEL CARAFE: A double insulated carafe (as found on the Melitta) serves to keep the coffee warm without a warming plate following the brewing cycle. Though the coffee does lose heat over time, you will not lose any taste. Glass carafes require a warming plate that keeps coffee at a consistent temperature by essentially cooking it. YES YES YES! Finally a working coffee pot that wasn't designed/built by total morons!

A coffee maker should do the following:
1. Make coffee into a pot (not on the counter)
2. Make hot coffee (listen up mr coffee!)
3. Actually pour coffee out of the carafe! (again something mt coffee hasn't figured out)
4. Actually brew the entire filters worth of grinds and not just part of the grinds
5. Not cost an Arm and a leg.... It's a simple appliance

After going through 6 different coffee makers from 4 different mfg's I finally found one that meets my extremely picky 5 requirements (sarcasm) this maker is the ONLY one that does!

Very good coffee maker with a thermal carafe
I bought this from Abe"s of maine. I usually don't write reviews but I did a lot of research and have waited a long time to buy another coffee maker since my Philips Thermal was getting a bit old.
I have tried a number of thermal units in the past and could not find one that produced hot coffee from the start, never mind after awhile from the carafe. The Philips was good, not perfect, where after my second cup I had to hit the microwave. So I came across the Melitta older version and wanted to buy it but could not find one at an reasonable price so I called Melitta. They said it was discontinued but they have a new model 46894. Now the picture is wrong here, it shows a glass carafe, the same on Abe's website but the model number was correct so I ordered it and got the thermal carafe.

So far I really like it. I ran water thru it and it is 5 degrees hotter than my Philips and it has a hot plate which gets good and hot during the brew time and then goes off when it stops...

1. Juice Forever!
I bought one of these in 1977. And it's still in excellent condition after about a million (more or less) glasses of juice. What more can you ask?

Well, perhaps easier cleaning. Pulp gets wedged in the basket and you need a stiff brush to get it loose. Some dishwashers will do the trick, but you may end up scrubbing. Thus four instead of five stars.

If you need to make more than two glasses of juice, you'll probably have to stop and empty the basket of pulp before continuing. The Champion juicer spits out the pulp while juicing and might be a better choice for those who have large families.

Nevertheless, this Waring juicer (they bought out the old Acme brand) gets every drop of juice from your veggies and fruit. Don't even consider a cheaper juicer, as you'll pay the price in needing more produce to come up with a good glass of juice. Bon Apetit!

This juicer is everything I had hoped it would be. It extracts every last drop of juice from your produce - if you use it correctly. The trick is to let the machine run for AT LEAST 5 minutes after you no longer see any produce in the chute. I tried to use the included filters, the result was less than desirable. Yes, cleanup was just a hair easier, but I did not get anywhere near the amount of juice that I got without the filter. The juicer disassembles easily for cleanup, the strainer basket takes a little care to clean. Due to its design, it is not possible to just scrub and rinse. You will have to use a papertowel or sponge to get the last pulp out. I would strongly recommend to wash the parts immediately after juicing, letting the pulp dry is not the best idea. The chute is a little small, my only complaint with this unit, otherwise I would have rated it five stars.

After years of frustration trying to make a frozen drink with household blenders, I finally realized that I need a more powerful machine to do the job right. I bit the bullet and put up the big bucks for a 1HP machine and we love it. IT REALLY WORKS.

2. Now THIS is a blender!
After finally killing my last blender with my regular smoothie habit, we decided it was time to play with the big boys. Yes, it's twice as expensive as other "premium quality" blenders, but it's more than twice as powerful, and if you need that kind of power this blender won't disappoint. It went through my frozen banana smoothies without a hitch (no more rrrrrr-rrrrr-rrrnnn of a motor not up to the task). And the top is well designed - no drips down the sides after pouring.

One caveat: this is a commercial blender and it looks it. The base is a greenish-grey and the label on the front won't win any asthetic kitchen appliance awards. On the other hand, this is a commercial blender and it works like one. It even comes with an extra drive coupling. This quite possibly will be the last blender I ever own!

One reviewer suggested this blender would be quieter if the jar was glass rather than polycarbonate. This might help, but I think a more effective solution would be to add a muffler. The motor in this machine is one horsepower and it sounds it, which can be an issue if you're the first one up in the morning making smoothies. Unless your willing to drop $300 on a soundproof acrylic case, be prepared to make a lot of noise (like a lawnmower's worth) every time you turn it on.

Unfortunately, the noise isn't my only criticism of the Mega Pro. I don't believe the rest of the blender was adequately designed to match the motor. Large ice cubes and frozen fruit had a tendency to grind down to perfect spheres and pinball around until I intervened. Also, I often found ingredients had to be strategically added to avoid ice cave or superfroth. The blender's ultimate demise, however, was a frozen strawberry, which managed to wedge itself beneath the blade (according to events recreated)...

As advertised, this item requires disassembly and immediate cleaning. It also works slowly, as advertised. All tools necessary for cleaning are included. The chopping and squeezing of the food between two spiral gears is a much different method than the shred and spin type which is common for most counter top juicers, so I was surprised at how much I needed to adjust my expectations. But the advantage that this GS-2000 has over the other type is that it can handle grasses and leafy greens, so I am comfortable with the slower process.
I bought the item used, and after several uses I began to imagine why the original owner wanted to sell it. It requires time to use and much more time to clean, something that cannot be put off until later. Still, as it is not an inexpensive item, I feel I made a good choice, particularly as I was able to save money while getting the equipment I wanted.

2. Highest Quality Juice - BAR NONE!
I bought my juicer over 9 years ago. I finally had a minor part break on it, which isn't slowing me down at all. Because of the higher quality of juice, I don't have to juice every day in order to get the nutrition I seek during a juice fast. So even though the juicer takes a while to clean, I only need to do that every other day or so when I make my batches of juice. The pulp comes out bone dry. I get more juice from it with the same amount of produce compared to any centrifugal machine AND the juice is higher quality because it hasn't been heated and oxidized. I do wish I didn't have to chop the produce down to size as much, but such a minor price to pay for excellent end product. And I also wish it was a bit easier to clean. It seems there are needless nooks and crannies in the design. I hear the latest model is better in that area. Happy juicing.

HORRIBLE- DON'T BUY GREENSTAR-Foamer-Not a Good Juicer
The GreenStar is the worst juicer I have ever used-(Even when brand new). It creates a lot of foam (more Foam than Wheat Grass Juice) and it also puts out juicy pulp. To me, that's a waste! I bought the Omega 8000 and LOVE it! It does wheatgrass juice perfectly (will do any other fruit and veggie juice too-pulp = always dry) Also, it's a great food processor for Raw food living -great to process my crackers and breads for the dehydrator!! :D

The feature set on this oven is fantastic. Can bake, steam, reheat, keeps things moist. It takes a little bit of reading the manual to learn how to program since it's different from a regular oven, but once you get the hang of it, it's wonderful the results are tasty!

It's a bit smaller size on the inside than normal ovens, given the water container and convection mechanism both have to fit. We found we had to buy new smaller cookie sheets. Not a problem since you can stack vertically, though, and we have not had trouble fitting cake forms or even ducks and turkeys into it. It may be a problem if you try to do huge turkeys (we've entertained for 10 people just fine).

My big problem is with Thermador service and quality. Our oven clock/timer stopped working accurately after 7 months. The clock just can't keep time (it still displays time and you can set it but it's just not accurate). This of course affects any timed cooking/baking function. Thermador has very...

2. I love my steam oven
First - i went into the appliance store, not knowing that i needed this oven. I was going to buy a double oven, like everyone else. I found that this steam convection oven can function like a regular oven, but can also do so much more. I love baking with it - gives bread that hard crunchy shell, unlike baking in a regular oven. I also made our Thanksgiving turkey in it this year - it was awesome!

The only caveat, is that i don't have many recipes for it - i really wish they had a cook book that came with it. I have to improvise, I am no pro so. . . I have never made anything that i hated - but, it probably could have been better. I will also say that i use this appliance 80% more than i do the regular convection oven.

I would buy it again, but really wish i could get some recipes! :)

This is a griddle with optional buffet serving dishes that I've not used, and I wanted a griddle. I thought the dishes were worth $20, one day we'll see. Griddle only is available with a different model number at $20 less. At 27 1/4 x 13 1/2 counting the handles you need to have a storage location lined up. It's quite a bit larger than my prior (jumbo-size) unit, the handles add a lot to the size. I had to do some reconfiguring of my storage. It does look quite elegant. My main issue is that the temp control goes into the griddle under a handle, making it difficult to see and operate. More difficult than you would ever think. Horrible design. As far as cooking goes, though, I really like it. It does have hot spots, any home unit will, but much less than a run-of-the-mill cheap unit. You can work around that by moving the food around. Scrambled eggs - enough to cover the whole thing - came out flawless each time, with no burning at the hot spots, pancakes too. I do run...

I am a george foreman appliance junkie, so when I discovered the new grill/griddle I did a price search, found the best price at Amazon and had it delivered. I LOVE this thing, it works super and is like having two separate appliances but with the convenience of having them together in one simple unit.

I found that I can fix sausage or smokey links on the grill at the same time I am making french toast on the griddle. My fiance and I received this as a shower gift last week and the G2 made its debut this past weekend. It has exceeded all expectations. Cooked a full hot breakfast in the morning and by noon I was flipping patty melts. Cleanup was not too bad. Just let it cool off and wiped it with some paper towels and soapy water. We reciever this microwave quickly. My microwave died after 35 yrs. and I was so happy it arrived fast. It is easy to operate and the instructions are very easy to follow. I really like all the features and the pre-set settings are very accurate. The 4 defrost settings are a real treat to me. The demenions are accurate but I didn't realize the wall plug was large so this microwave sticks out 2 inches more in front beyond my shelf edge. My old microwave's plug laid flat against the wall. I am getting use to this and it in no way affects the performance of the product. If I had known it would take up another 2 inches in deepth beyond the listed deminsions I would have purchased a smaller unit so it would fit my space better.

2. Love all but one thing
I really researched before I bought this microwave. I had owned a Sharp, one of the first carousel type ones, for 21 years, and it still hadn't died, but was slowing down. I knew I wanted another Sharp and had space constraints, so after doing quite a bit of looking, I chose this one. And I am definitely not sorry! I was a bit daunted at first by all the buttons and choices, but the prompts are a huge help, and it really wasn't hard to figure out at all, especially considering my old one had barely any options. The only thing I would change - Sharp, are you listening? is that the door is very loud when you shut it. There are light sleepers in my house, so I find that sometimes, early in the a.m., I have to leave the door hanging open until they wake up! That's the only reason I gave this item a 4 instead of a 5. Performance-wise, feature-wise, you can't go wrong with this microwave.

Awesomely powerful and durable microwave
This product replaced our still working but rusted 1991 Sharp microwave. That microwave and this one are made great. I slam the door in my haste and it takes it and asks for more. I had to get used to how much more powerful this one was than our last. Cooking times have decreased dramatically which is nice. Controls are easy to use. There is a button that you can press quickly cook (one-touch) in increments of one minute. I use this frequently. Highly recommended. I can't see how you could go wrong with this one.

Great kegerator!
I used this heavily this weekend and it worked great. I was pleased to see the temperature stay low enough to cut the foam amount and that pouring was smooth which always seems to be a challenge with most home kegerators. This is a good fit for me as a home brewer and was pleasantly surprised as well that it looks nice. Since mine will be in view every time someone visits I hoped it would look ok and really happy it does. It uses standard taps and fit standard kegs so I think it's a good buy for most and would recommend.

1. OK but has some significant issues
I have been using this machine for about a month now. The espressos are strong, aromatic and comparable to those produced by more expensive machines. The machine is also very easy to clean (barely requiring a rinse every now and then). As far as quality goes I'm very happy with it. A few caveats however:

Temperature: as other reviewers mentioned, they are barely warm. If you're used to sipping yours for more than a couple of minutes you'll be drinking cold coffee. In fact the low temperature my Nespresso produces is enough of an issue for me to regret my purchase. And warming the cup does about as much as you'd expect.

Variety: I think there are enough capsules in the Nespresso line to find an espresso that suits your taste but the lungos are not to be confused with full-cups. You will not be able to get even half of an average American coffee cup out of a lungo capsule without it starting to taste watered down. Therefore Nespresso isn't as versatile as it could...

2. My quest for perfect espresso is finally over!
This review is based on my experience with the Nespresso Essenza C90, but the Nespresso Essenza D90 is quite similar, and I believe that the espresso making mechanism is exactly the same.

We all have our little passions. Over the years, I have devoted too much time, money, and study to perfecting the art of making the perfect coffee and espresso. I searched the world (and the internet) for the best beans, grinders, equipment, and even tried roasting my own beans and became able to produce better potions that one can ever find in the coffee boutiques. Still, as it turns out, my efforts were in vain. The Nespresso Essenza (and probably the other Nespresso machines similar in design) produces the perfect cup and the ease of doing so, sadly, puts my efforts to shame.

The secret seems to be in the strong pumping mechanism (19 bars of pressure, same as their more expensive machines) and their superb coffee capsules. After being such a stickler for the freshest roasted...

build quality not as good...
I have bought several exact same model in France when I was living there earlier this year, and the build quality (i.e. fit and finish) are much better. The ones in Europe are made in Switzerland, and the one I recently bought on Amazon is made in China. Not sure why, but the fit and finish just didn't measure up. Otherwise the machine works great. I also would recommend getting the manual vs the automatic version. The manual model lets you control how much water you let pass thru the capsule.

I purchased the Green bottle because it was cheaper than any of the other bottles. I could never find the reason. Just the same, I purchased the bottle because it was large, contained a mixer ball and had (what looked like)a snap cover. There's where I was wrong. Despite being large and having a mixer ball, there was no snap cover. I put in the protein powder and milk, put the cover snap down, held the cover closed and shook. When I opened the snap, I noticed it didn't snap open. I worked at the cover a few times to see if it was faulty or I was doing something wrong. Bottom line, the cover does not snap closed and will open very easily. You will need to hold the snap down when you shake it and I would not use it to travel and drink - which was what I was hoping to do.

2. This is my favorite blender bottle
It's just a great blender bottle with the mixing ball. It works great. I really like the 20 ounce bottle because my shakes aren't that large and I don't need a huge bottle to mix in.

Alright, you can tackle this product as either a new user of blender bottles or someone with experience.

IF you're someone who has used a blender bottle before and saw those commercials yelling (not telling) at you that you can BEAT THOSE EGGS (told you, yelling at you like infomercials will) with a blender bottle, you know those 32oz ones are hugely overkill.

IF you're a new user of blender bottles, I find the experience with this style to be preferable as the cleaning of the cup is a cinch and all you have to do is rinse the steel mixing ball instead of cleaning out the grates in the other style of blending bottles. A hint though, don't fill it all the way past the thread on the cup, gets a lot harder to shake the more full it gets. Also, for the sake of wherever you're blending, always hold the cap down while doing so.

When I got my first microwave, it came with a series of classes, and I learned to cook everything, even the Thanksgiving turkey, in the microwave. As a result, when the time came to replace it, I needed a full size microwave.

I really use this oven most frequently for defrosting. The inverter turbo defrost feature has no peer. No more dried out edges with still frozen interiors - those are a thing of the past. Just enter the weight of the food, press start and forget it.

This unit definitely saves time in the morning as well as saves money going to a certain coffee chain (except for the beans). Jura-Capresso's customer service was really great as well as we had lost the manual and DVD, and they gladly sent replacements. The DVD was especially helpful for learning about the system.

You definitely need to customize the coffee strength and coffee/steam/milk portions, but once that's done, the unit is truly automatic. You have to clean it, but the unit tells you what to do and when.

Worth every penny.

1. Great espresso, sub-standard exterior
I bought this machine after reading reviews of its great espresso and I have not been disappointed with its internal workings. It can do a really good job pulling shots if you get the grind and tamp right.

However, after a couple of weeks of use, the power switch got stuck in an always-on position and I had to unplug it each time I wanted to power down. This wasn't much of a surprise given how cheap and flimsy are all the buttons -- they feel like cheap plastic toy parts -- but it was enough for me to return the machine and upgrade to the Gaggia Classic. The Classic and Baby have the same internal parts and so make the same quality espresso but the housing and buttons of the Classic look like they might last more than a month. You can save $100 or so by going with the Baby and likely be very happy with the espresso quality, but you need to be comfortable with the risk you're taking on.

With the Baby model, I found I needed a *very* fine grind (#2 at...

2. Great coffee - cheap switches
This machine has the ability to produce great coffee with the correct grind and sufficient tamping. Unfortunately the switches on the front of the unit are substandard compared to the rest of the unit. My steam switch has gone faulty after the first week (refuses to lock on!). If you can put up with regular replacement of switches then the resultant coffee will satisfy.

Good espresso but horrible hardware
We've had our Baby Gaggia for a little over a year now and are already on our third set of buttons. After regular use the buttons that run the steam, the brewing, and power the machine stick or break outright. The plastic buttons are incredibly cheaply made and, even when handled with delicacy break or simply cease to function. What's equally surprising is that the rest of the machine seems to be well made, which makes me wonder why they would use such inadequate parts on for its cheapest components. Don't buy this machine if you want reliability.

Purchased this fridge after being very limited in dimensions. It came down to this and one other refrigerator that was not as nice. We chose this one and crossed our fingers. So far, it has been 3 months and we really like it. Sturdy construction, user friendly, nice freezer with pull out shelf drawer. If you want automatic espresso that tastes fantastic, this machine it definitely for you - and I bought mine as a refurb for $119... what a STEAL! I looked into getting a non-pump, but no crema 50% of the time, and often it was simply not hot enough - two heat settings allow you to choose the heat of your coffee... I also owned at one point a Delonghi with the included milk frother - a true waste, unless you want to clean it after every use, this becomes troublesome. With this model, I get no scalding, great foam down tothe bottom if I want! the special two-part stem does a great job of isolating the heat from foam. Plus as the previosu commentor noted, everything comes apart for easy and thorough cleaning. One note,I imagine a lot of people took this machine back because when you first start it up, the pump is extermely loud and doesn't seem to draw water from the reservoir in the back - my advice, open the steam valve when you are first filling it - when water comes out of the steam...

I bought my BAR42E at Bloomingdales for $149.99. At that price it's a great coffemaker. I like espresso so I can't comment on the frothy milk drinks. The espresso is nice with a great crema. The machine heats quickly to ready temp and the styling is George Jetson cool. It all comes apart easily for cleaning. It's a substantial machine, not some lightweight piece of plastic. None of the complaints that I've read about the BAR 42 seem to apply to the BAR 42E. I think that you'll like this one.

I received this espresso machine as a gift in June of 2004. It worked great till this month, when all of a sudden large amounts of steam started coming out when we tried to make a cup of espresso. I don't think the milk frother ever really worked properly, either. Today I went to de-scale it, and found that the heating element has broken. DeLonghi says I have to send it to a service center and they won't cover any costs because I'm out of warranty. But for a $300 machine, I expected a lot better quality. Not worth it if I have to replace it every 18 months.
Update--my husband took the machine apart and found a fuse that had blown. He replaced it and it's working for now, but we're getting a spare thermostat and fuse to keep on hand. Also, you need a special kind of tool to unscrew the body, found in auto supply stores mostly.
Update: It's now April 2007 and the machine is still working great, no more repairs needed.

I have been collecting desktop models for 25 years. This is a beautiful example of the latest desktop models from the big manufactures (Mastercraft/Showcase/Toys & Models/RTM are all the same). Unlike other F-15 models by the same company in 1/48 scale which are made of kiln-dried mahagony, this model is made of injection molded plastic. There are no visible seam lines and the model has an excellent overall shape and the proportions are accurate. Another advantage of this model is that all markings are painted on instead of using decals. While I don't mind decals, the painted markings are very well done and are normally reserved for much more expensive models. Overall, I am very pleased with this addition to my F-15 model fleet and definately reccomend it to others.

I bake double to tripple batches of bread and cookie doughs frequently, and this machine is perfect. It will also whip a pint of heavy cream in under a minute. I replaced a standard Kitchen aid mixer with this one, to increase power and capacity, and it was well worth it. One note, the website did not state whether or not the mixer comes with the three standard attachments, the wire whip, the flat beater and the dough hook. It does! They are all brushed stainless steel and hold up wonderfully in the dishwasher. This device delivers on its promise: it honestly does chill your soda/beer/wine orders of magnitude faster than the fridge or the freezer. The downside is that it does not do the chilling by itself: water and ice must be supplied. The directions recommend two trays of ice and two cups cold water, which is more than enough for getting a 12-pack to 38F. My experience was that it took 25% longer using only one tray of ice. The device makes a tiny amount of noise, say 1/10th that of a dish washer, but they brilliantly have a "no spin" (quiet) mode should you be using this in an office/baby nursery/library. The button layout and design are extremely well thought out. Press "Can", or "bottle", and "spin" or "no spin".

All appliances should be this effective and easy to use.

2. Cool but doesn't chill...
So I got the Cooper Cooler for my office. It seemed so cool and slick. And the description said it brings soda cans down to 34 degrees in a minute. Doesn't get much better than that right? WRONG!
The little detail the editorial forgot to mention was that you have to put ice-cubes (YES, ICE CUBES) in the device in order for it to cool down your soda. Well, I've got a news flash for you - if I had ice cubes handy I could put them in my soda and be done with it. And ice cubes are much cheaper than this device.

So bear in mind this cooler is only useful if you have a real fridge near by and want to cool things fast. That's the only valid use-case. There you go.

Really works, chills drinks fast and easily, great for wine
I was skeptical at first that it would work, but I got one after I saw it featured in Kiplingers magazine. It worked as advertised. Chills my beer/soda cans quick in one minute and my bottles in three and a half minutes and like they say, it dosen't fizz over which I was really skeptical about. Glass bottles can sometimes rattle a bit but this dosen't seem to be a problem since its still not fizzy. Also great for chilling my wine quickly to the proper serving temp. I never really noticed the taste difference until I used my Cooper Cooler to chill my white wines to the recommended temperature in the mid-low 50s (only took three and a half minutes!!!) vs refrigerator temp which they say is too cold for most white wines. I was surprised that the difference in serving temp had an impact on the wine's taste, flavor, etc... It can sometimes groove the wine labels, but I don't care, but FYI if you collert the labels they have a no spin mode which dosen't sping the bottle. Real easy to use...

I purchased this slicer, as we buy food in bulk, and I used it to slice lunch meat and cheese. It does well on a baked ham also. Problem is, it needs to be angled approx. 10 degrees more, so that gravity can help when the food exits the blade. It sometimes will get sucked into the blade and go underneath the blade, meaning you have to stop and clear it. My old commercial slicer had a curved partition that allowed the meat or cheese to curve away from the blade. This product just has a straight plastic guard which guards nothing. It has the power to slice everything, however it does poorly with cheese due to the cheese sticking and getting sucked in as I stated before. My brother has a slicer he bought at a restaurant supply, that I have him slice my cheese on, which he has no problem with. this is not a heavy duty machine in my opinion, but a medium duty machine. Cleaning is straight forward, with taking the blade off, via a safety disk, and then taking the table off. Hope this review...

A couple of previous reviews complained about blockages that quickly developed in their machines. I had the same problem after less than a month of use, where the brewed coffee would drip out very slowly, threatening to cease altogether. I told my wife she should return the machine, but she called Jura's customer service number, which is printed on the cover of the instruction booklet. The representative gave her a fix which is not mentioned in the troubleshooting section of the manual. It's difficult to describe, but it involves removing the grounds tray, poking a finger up through the chute and finding damp grounds that are stuck by a screen there. They can be wiped away with a paper towel and that should clear up the problem.
Otherwise, I recommend reading fhimas88888888's review for realistic advice, especially about the lifespan of a machine. This is my second super-automatic espresso machine, as a Saeco awaits repairs before becoming an office machine for my wife...

2. Alot of features...inflated price tag
This machine boasts A LOT of features! It has a dual boiler system that allows you to go back and forth from brewing to steaming without a wait time (although you can't do them at the same time). It has a bypass doser which allows you to add preground coffee. It has a rinse cycle that comes on when you turn the machine on. You can also program the machine to certain amounts of water to go through the coffee when you press a certain button. You can also have it turn on at a certain time and turn off at a certain time. There is a stylish blue backlight that looks wonderful on the machine. The machine also has a wonderful milk steamer that with the automatic frother and with the steamer itself allows wonderful steaming with ease.

Now my complaints. The steamer cannot get the milk anywhere as hot as my Expobar Office Control (semi automatic) or my old Rancilio Silvia (semi automatic). Also the froth quality is very bad with the automatic air injectors. This machine can only...

Great coffee - Be aware of long-term maintenance costs
I purchased this machine's predecessor, the Jura S90, about 4 years ago. Since no one's owned an S9 for that long, it's hard to say for certain what the maintenance costs for the S9 will be, but I thought those considering buying it might appreciate knowing that it will likely require a certain amount of annual or biennial maintenance.

The S90 has one part that needs replacing after approximately every 2000 shots, which in my house means about once every 18 months. There are also seals and similar parts that again will need service periodically. This machine appears to be mechanically very similar to the S90, so it will likely have similar maintenance characteristics.

Over the last 4 years, I've had the machine serviced twice by Jura, and once by a local repairman. The cost of repairs was around two hundred dollars including parts each time... My front panel switches are also starting to misbehave, though, so the next repair may be more expensive.

We have owned several home espresso machines and this is by far the best one ever. The ability to froth milk automatically just before or just after making coffee or espresso is unique. In most other units it's necessary to purge the water system before steaming milk and then purging it again to regain brewing temperature. In this unit you just press the button and frothed milk foams out into your cup, and is pre-programmed to stop at the right moment. The milk unit can be removed and stored in a refrigerator and the parts are easy to clean. It even tells you when to run a cleaning or decalcifying session. Programable in English and several European languages. It's also easy to make hot cocoa by frothing chocolate milk. Electronic controls dose out the amount of coffee or espresso from a short shot of espresso (single or doppio) to a mug of coffee. [T]he C3000 has the most effective auto-frother I've ever seen. You just fill a detachable plastic container partway with milk, plug it into the milk feed, and press a button for frothed milk. An adjustable plastic valve lets you control the milk/steam ratio to adjust frothiness. Since it's a 2-boiler system, you can run the steamer immediately before or after (but not during, presumably due to power constraints) espresso preparation. My only complaint is that you can't effectively use the steam wand to just steam milk because it is too short and not height-adjustable. With my Magic Deluxe, I can use the steam wand to make hot chocolate, or simply to heat my steamed milk to the temperature I want. With the C3000, if you don't get the milk temperature right the first time, you have to microwave it. Running it through the forthing system again doesn't work because it will scald the milk and also leave a bunch of foam behind in the milk container.

Coffee Heaven
As advertised, this machine is a marvel of automation, with coffee and espresso available at the touch of a button. The unit cleans and monitors itself. It's really quite easy to use; there is a helpful video included with it. The coffee is "crema coffee" which is very flavorful; devotees of drip coffee may find it a bit stronger than what they're used to. Everything is customizable and programmable.

If you've had espresso/cappucino machines before, you know that the milk frothing is a total inconvenience. Not so with the c3000; just hook up the included milk container to the steam arm and you have LIMITLESS steamed milk. Great for hot chocolate (or Cafe and Coco)......

The only downside is that there is more plastic used in the construction of the unit than I would expect given the rather staggering price.
